Super Bowl XLVII is finally here, pitting the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers against each other in the Mercedes Benz Superdome.
San Francisco enters Sunday as minor favorites in the eyes of experts and Vegas, making them lay 3.5 points. The Niners got to this point by beating the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons in the NFC playoffs.
The 49ers looked done when they trailed Atlanta 17-0 before staging an epic comeback, giving them their first Super Bowl appearance since 1994.
San Francisco is led by quarterback Colin Kaepernick and a fierce defense, spearheaded by Patrick Willis, NaVorro Bowman, Aldon Smith and Justin Smith. The 49ers are very tough to run against, with big, strong interior play and speed on the outside.
Baltimore had a much tougher road, playing three playoff games to get to New Orleans.
The Ravens had to survive games against Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, something that most people felt was impossible after their sluggish finish to the regular season.
Beyond the never-ending story of Ray Lewis and his comeback, the main story has deservedly been Joe Flacco. Flacco has thrown eight touchdowns in the playoffs compared to zero interceptions, as he continues to enjoy one of the best postseasons of all-time.
