The Boston Celtics will officially get the NBA preseason underway on Friday afternoon when they take on Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul, Turkey.
↵Boston tips off at 2 p.m. ET today against Fenerbahce, the Turkish Basketball League and Euroleague member, and the game can be seen on Comcast or NBATV and heard on the radio at 93.7 WEEI.
↵Meanwhile, the Connecticut Sun are set to host the Indiana Fever in Game 1 of the WNBA Eastern Conference Finals on Friday night in a battle of the two best teams in the conference during the regular season. Tipoff time is set for 8 p.m. ET at the Mohegan Sun Arena, and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
↵In baseball, the inaugural one-game Wild Card playoff showdowns take place, beginning with the Atlanta Braves, who will start Kris Medlen (the Braves haven't lost a game in which Medlen has started since July 23), hosting the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals, who will counter with Kyle Lohse, in the National League. First pitch is scheduled for 5:07 p.m. ET and can be seen on TBS.
↵Later, the Baltimore Orioles will head to Texas to take on the Rangers in the American League's Wild Card playoff. Joe Saunders (9-13, 4.07 ERA in the regular season) will start for the Orioles while Yu Darvish (16-9, 3.90 ERA in the regular season) takes the hill for the Rangers. First pitch is set for 8:37 p.m. ET and will also be televised on TBS.
