The UMass-Lowell River Hawks trail the Union Dutchmen, 1-0, after one period of play in the two team's first round match-up in the 2012 NCAA Hockey Tournament.
Lowell could have potentially taken an early 1-0 lead, but the puck stopped just before the line and after review, was determined not to be a goal, as a Dutchmen defensemen scooped it up just before crossing the line. Moments later, Daniel Ciampini of Union scored, giving the Dutchmen a one to nothing lead.
The Dutchmen have out-shot the River Hawks, 18 to nine, in the first period. Chad Ruhwedel has recorded a game-high, three shots on goal.
The remainder of the game can be seen on ESPN U.
