BOSTON - Steven Whitney scored a pair of goals and Johnny Gaudreau potted his second goal of the night as the Boston College Eagles are cruising after two periods, leading the Northeastern Huskies, 5-1, in the semifinal round of the Beanpot at TD Garden.
Whitney's first score was shorthanded and came at 6:51 of the period, assisted by Barry Almeida (9) and Patch Alber (6), putting the Eagles up 3-1. Johnny Gaudreau added a goal, his second of the game and 11th of the season, on assists from Alber (7) and Pat Mullane (9), at 8:58 of the period. Whitney's second goal, his 10th of the season, was also a shorthanded goal and was unassisted at 13:11 of the second, giving the Eagles their four goal lead after two periods.
Parker Milner had six saves in the period and is now up to 15 for the game for Boston College while Chris Rawlings had 11 saves in the middle period and now has 24 for the game.
