Beanpot 2012, BC Vs. Northeastern: Eagles Lead 2-1 After First Period

BOSTON - Boston College struck twice in the early stages of the first period, and the Eagles hold a 2-1 lead over the Northeastern Huskies after one period in the semifinal round of the 2012 Beanpot Tournament here at TD Garden.

Boston College struck first, with the Eagles scoring first on Paul Carey's strike. Carey's goal, his eighth of the season, came on assists from Johnny Gaudreau (10) and Pat Mullane (19) at 5:14 of the opening period. Johnny Gaudreau found the back of the net for the 10th time this season, unassisted, at 9:43 of the first to give the Eagles an early 2-0 lead.

The Huskies scored their first goal of the game on Anthony Bitetto's fourth strike of the year at 12:34 on a 5-on-3 advantage following penalties to Steven Whitney and Chris Kreider, trimming Northeastern's deficit to one goal.

Parker Milner stopped nine shots in the first period for BC while Chris Rawlings had 13 saves for the Huskies. Boston College had 15 shots on net in the opening period while Northeastern registered 10.
