Beanpot 2012: Boston University Leads Harvard, 1-0, After First

BOSTON - Matt Nieto scored his 11th goal of the season as the Boston University Terriers jumped ahead of the Harvard Crimson, 1-0, after one period of play in the semifinal round of the 2012 Beanpot Tournament at TD Garden.

Nieto's goal was his 11th of the season and came at 8:14 of the opening period. The goal, an even strength strike, was assisted by Alex Chiasson and Sean Escobedo. Kieran Millan had nine saves in the opening period for the Terriers.

There were four penalties in the period, three for the Crimson and three for the Terriers. Both teams recorded nine on target shots in the period. Harvard's Steve Michalek turned away eight shots in the period in net. The Terriers had 20 total shots, seven of which were blocked by the Crimson defensemen. Harvard had 17 total attempted shots in the period.
