Beanpot 2012: Boston College Eagles Prepare To Defend Their Title

The 2012 Beanpot begins on Monday night, with two semifinal games being played between the Boston U. Terriers and the Harvard Crimson at 5 p.m. EDT and the Boston College Eagles and Northeastern Huskies at 8 p.m. at TD Garden.

The Beanpot is back, and one of the nation's most unique collegiate hockey tournaments is ready to grip the region by storm once more. Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern and Harvard all prepare to square off for the ultimate city bragging rights, the Beanpot Championship, all while vying for positioning in the Hockey East standings.

Boston College is the defending Beanpot champion, having bested Boston University, 3-2, in overtime of the semifinal round before advancing to edge Northeastern, 7-6, in a thriller to claim their 16th Beanpot Championship and improve their overall Beanpot record to 69-49.

Meanwhile, the Terriers enter the tournament having won the most Beanpot titles with 29 championships. Boston University will take on the Harvard Crimson in the first game of the tournament at 5 p.m. EDT at TD Garden. Boston College will battle Northeastern in the second and final semifinal game at 8:00 p.m. EDT at the same location.

Both of these games on Monday will be televised on New England Sports Network.
