A pair of preseason watch lists for college football awards were released on Thursday morning. For the second time this week, Connecticut defensive end Trevardo Williams was included on a list of candidates for a prestigious award honoring the nation's top defensive player, the Bronko Nagurski Trophy.
On Monday, Williams' name appeared on the preseason watch list for the Bednarik Award, which also recognizes the top defender in college football.
Last season, his junior year, Williams recorded 12.5 sacks and 15 tackles for a loss. He averaged more than a sack per game, which led the Big East. Those numbers propelled him to a spot on the All-Big East second team. Williams is one of UConn's top NFL prospects and a lock to be selected in the 2013 NFL Draft.
