Women's 2012 NCAA Tournament, Stanford Vs. Baylor: Brittney Griner And The Bears Headed To Championship Game

The Baylor Bears defeated the Stanford Cardinal on Sunday night, 59-47, to punch their ticket to the 2012 Women's NCAA Tournament Championship Game to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Brittney Griner struggled more than she has in any other matchup this tournament, but still picked up 13 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots.

She of course had the difficult task of taking on Stanford's Nnemkadi Ogwumike, projected by many to be the No. 1 pick in this year's WNBA Draft (assuming Griner holds to her word to finish her college career at Baylor). Ogwumike led all scorers with 22 points in addition to nine blocked shots. Toni Kokenis pitched in nine points, but ultimately it wasn't enough to overcome a more balanced effort by the Bears.

The Bears will take on the Fighting Irish in the championship game, winners in overtime over the Connecticut Huskies on Saturday.
