After a roller-coaster 2011-12 season, the Huskies find themselves in a very familiar position; the NCAA Tournament.
Even with Kemba Walker moving on to the NBA and Jim Calhoun missing time due to health issues, UConn fought through the tough times and landed a No. 9 seed in the South Region.
UConn got off to a great 12-1 start including three wins over eventual tourney teams only to see the bottom fall out soon thereafter. The Huskies lost nine of 12 games between Jan 18 and Feb 28th.
UConn was in a very precarious spot going into the Big East Tournament, but put on a fine showing to prove it belonged in the field of 68. After beating DePaul and West Virginia, the Huskies almost pulled off a stunning upset of Syracuse, narrowly losing to the Orange for the second time in less than a month.
With Jeremy Lamb and Shabazz Napier leading the way, UConn could be a darling in this year's big dance. With a win against Iowa State in the second round, the Huskies would most likely move on to face Kentucky, widely considered the best team in the nation.
It wouldn't be an easy task by any means but with Calhoun leading an experienced team against the youthful Wildcats, anything is possible. However, the Cyclones can't be overlooked.
