College Basketball Rankings: UConn Falls From ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, Harvard Remains Steady

Surprise: Harvard is alone among New England teams in the college basketball top 25.

Harvard is the lone New England team standing in the latest college basketball rankings.

The Crimson retained their spot at No. 23 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll released on Monday. Connecticut, which had been No. 19 last week, dropped its third straight contest on Sunday to Notre Dame and fell out of the rankings. The Huskies did receive 21 votes.

Harvard has won six straight since a surprising loss to Fordham, and has begun Ivy League play with three consecutive victories. The Crimson waxed Yale on Friday, 65-35, and followed the next day by ousting Brown 68-59. Kyle Casey led Harvard against Brown with 20 points, Brandyn Curry added 15 and the Crimson held Brown to just 37.0 percent shooting.

Harvard resumes play Friday at home against Cornell. UConn looks to snap its three-game skid on Wednesday at Georgetown.
