Connecticut 17, Buffalo 3: Johnny McEntee, Huskies Cruise Past Bulls

Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Johnny McEntee threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns as the Connecticut Huskies downed the Buffalo Bulls, 17-3, in a non-conference game at UB Stadium.

McEntee was 12-of-21 through the air without an interception to help the Huskies (2-2) snap a two-game losing streak. Nick Williams caught two balls for 113 yards and a touchdown, while Isiah Moore reeled in four passes for 49 yards.

Chazz Anderson was 18-of-39 through the air for 193 yards for the Bulls (1-3), who lost their second straight. He was intercepted once and sacked three times on the evening. Marcus Rivers caught nine balls for 94 yards, while Branden Oliver rushed for 84 yards on 23 carries.

Following a scoreless first quarter, the Bulls put the first points on the scoreboard when Peter Fardon kicked a 28-yard field goal with five-and-a-half minutes left in the second period.

Dave Teggart responded for Connecticut with a 47-yard field goal of his own three minutes later.

The Huskies moved in front when McEntee found Mark Hinkley with a four-yard touchdown pass just before halftime to give UConn a 10-3 advantage.

Connecticut extended its lead when McEntee found Williams on a 49-yard scoring strike with just under five minutes left in the game.

The Huskies prevailed despite accumulating just 80 net rushing yards and converting a mere 4-of-15 on third-down conversions.
