Boston College senior Carolyn Swords was drafted with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky. Swords averaged a team-best 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds last season for the Eagles.
Swords, a 6'6" senior center, was an All-ACC First Team selection from 2009 through 2011. In addition, Swords was an honorable mention on the Associated Press All-American team.
In 33 games at Boston College this season, all of which she started, Swords made 218-of-302 field goals and led the nation in field goal percentage for the second straight season, shooting at a impressive 72.2 percent clip.
Swords finished her career at Boston College with 1,978 points, 920 rebounds, 175 blocks and 147 assists in 130 total games. In addition, Swords made 322-of-453 free throws to shoot 71.1 percent from the free throw line.
Chicago finished 14-20 last season and will benefit from Swords' ability to rebounds and score in the post. Swords was the only player from Boston College that was drafted on Tuesday.
