Maya Moore was drafted with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft by the Minnesota Lynx on Monday afternoon. Moore played four seasons at the University of Connecticut, and is widely considered one of the greatest women's college basketball players of all time.
Moore is the second straight player to be drafted No. 1 overall from the University of Connecticut, as Tina Charles was drafted with the top pick by the Connecticut Suns in 2010.
In four seasons at Connecticut, Moore won two national championships and was the 2011 AP Player of the Year and the recipient of this year's Wooden Award. Moore averaged 19.7 points and 8.2 rebounds in 146 games.
In the 2010-11 season, Moore averaged a career-high 23.4 points and 7.8 rebounds while shooting 54.9 percent from the field. In addition, Moore shot 40.6 percent from three-point range and 80.2 percent from the charity stripe.
