Big East Tournament 2011: Junior Cadougan Leads Marquette Past West Virginia, 67-61

Junior Cadougan finished with 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting as No. 11 seed Marquette defeated No. 6 seed West Virginia, 67-61, in a 2011 Big East Tournament first round match-up at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.

The Golden Eagles advance to face No. 3 seed Louisville (23-8) in the Big East quarterfinals on Thursday at 9 p.m. EST.

West Virginia (20-11, 11-7 Big East) grabbed a 36-29 lead after halftime, but the Mountaineers were held scoreless for nine minutes and twenty seconds during the second half, helping Marquette (20-13, 9-9 Big East) to victory.

Darius Johnson-Odom scored 11 points and Davante Gardner added 10 points for Marquette. Jimmy Butler had nine points, Dwight Buycks totaled eight points and Chris Otule finished with seven points for the Golden Eagles, who shot 46.9% from the field and made 16-of-24 free throws (66.7%).

Kevin Jones scored 15 points to lead West Virginia, which shot 39.2% from the floor. John Flowers added 11 points and Darryl Bryant chipped in with 10 points for the Mountaineers.
