After a dominant win against Holy Cross, the Connecticut Huskies men's basketball team improved one spot in both of the major top 25 college basketball rankings. The Huskies are now No. 8 in the AP Top 25 and No. 9 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.
Freshman stud Andre Drummond scored a career-high 24 points and added eight rebounds on Sunday as UConn dominated throughout a 77-40 victory against Holy Cross. Coach Jim Calhoun believes his young team benefited from final exams period, when the Huskies went 10 days without a game but used the time to sharpen up their execution on the practice court.
Syracuse topped both polls, followed by Ohio State, Kentucky and Louisville. Duke earned the fifth ranking in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, while North Carolina held the fifth spot in the AP Top 25.
UConn returns to the court Thursday at home against Fairfield.
Harvard is ranked No. 25 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll. The Crimson fell a few votes shy of being ranked in both polls, leading the "others receiving votes" category in the AP Top 25.
