Johnny McEntee and the UConn Huskies look to get back on the winning track when they continue Big East play against South Florida at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, CT.
Event: Connecticut Huskies (2-4, 0-1 Big East) vs. South Florida Bulls (4-1, 1-0) - NCAA Football, Week 7.
Date/Time: Saturday, October 15, 2011 - 3:30 p.m. EDT.
Location: Rentschler Field (Capacity: 40,000), East Hartford, CT.
Broadcast Info: Saturday's game between the Huskies and Bulls will be aired live on SNY and the BIG EAST Television Network. Live game audio can be heard on WTIC-1080 AM, the home of UConn football for the last 20 years. Joe D'Ambrosio is on play-by-play, Wayne Norman is on color analysis duty and Kevin Nathan is on the sidelines.
Series History: UConn and South Florida have met eight times before, and the series is split 4-4. UConn has won four of the six Big East meetings between the two schools. The home team won the first five Big East meetings, but UConn prevailed on the road last year when kicker Dave Teggart drilled a 52-yard field goal with 17 seconds left to clinch UConn's first BCS bowl appearance.
Last Week: The Huskies trailed just 10-9 at halftime, but fell apart in the second half as West Virginia cruised to a 43-16 win in Morgantown, West Virginia. Teggart hit three field goals in the loss, and freshman Ty-Meer Brown scored UConn's lone touchdown in the fourth quarter when he returned an interception 48 yards into the end zone.
Storyline: Uconn struggled against West Virginia and has lacked consistency this season. Quarterback Johnny McEntee has shown flashes of brilliance, the running game (led by Lyle McCombs in the absence of injured D.J. Shoemate) has had its moments, and the defense has at times proven capable of carrying the team. But the Huskies are looking for consistency from all facets of the game, and the schedule doesn't get much easier with South Florida on the way to East Hartford.
