Midnight Madness 2011: Schedule For UConn, Boston College, More

Get ready for college basketball season with a Midnight Madness 2011 primer for the Boston region.

College Basketball season is nigh. That means one thing: Midnight Madness! New England has plenty of NCAA hoops to offer. Below, you'll find midnight madness schedule information, times and a description for some of the big events in our fair region, including UConn and Boston College.

Boston College

Expectations are relatively low this season for the Eagles program, which has slipped in recent years. Can Steve Donahue get things turned around? It starts now. (Well, it starts Oct. 27.)

When: Oct. 27, 7 p.m.
Where: Conte Forum
What: Ice Jam! It's a shared event between the basketball and hockey teams, a tradition started last year.
Boston College on SB Nation: BC Interruption

Connecticut Huskies

UConn begins its National Title defense this season. The Huskies should be right back with the nation's elite teams this season. Last year's hero 
Kemba Walker left for the NBA but Connecticut adds a stellar recruiting class headline by center Andre Drummond.

When: Oct. 14, 7 p.m.
Where: Gampel Pavillion
What: 3-PT and dunk contests, autograph session and more. Expect to see former Huskies, too.

Providence

Life after Marshon Brooks. It's also an introduction to new Friars  coach Ed Cooley, who takes over after three mediocre season of Keno Davis.

When: Oct. 14, 9:30 p.m.
Where: Alumni Hall
What: Dunk contest featuring former stars like Marshon Brooks and Ryan Gomes. Musical stylings of local hip-hop artist Ace Diamond and others.
