UConn finds another tough test on its schedule on Saturday in South Florida. Both teams enter the contest coming off a lopsided loss -- the Huskies dropped a 43-16 game to West Virginia while the Bulls have had two weeks to marinate on a 44-17 drubbing at the hands of Pitt.
The difference is that UConn's loss dropped it to 2-4, another drop in the bucket on a disappointing season. For South Florida, the loss was its first defeat of the season.
So are the Bulls a strong team that hiccuped against the Panthers or are they propped by a weak schedule featuring a marquee win in Week 1 against Notre Dame, which has proven to be less than stellar since that game? We'll get a good indication on Saturday.
The most obvious problem for UConn is their pass defense matched up against South Florida QB B.J. Daniels. The Huskies gave up 450 yards and four TDs through the air against Geno Smith last week against the Mountaineers. South Florida has the 28th-ranked pass attack in the country.
The good news for UConn: The Huskies have beaten South Florida the last two seasons. Dave Teggart Forever!
