David Ortiz Not Concerned About Timing Of Injury

Red Sox slugger David Ortiz has been placed on the 15-day DL as he continues to deal with an injury to his right Achilles. Complicating matters, the 36-year-old who has a career batting average of .285 with 401 homeruns and 1,326 RBI's, will be a free-agent at the end of the season.

But Ortiz isn't worried that his injury will affect him in free-agency, he's just worried about doing whatever it takes to heal (which includes PRP therapy and shockwave treatment) and getting back on the field according to WEEI.com:

"Today's days, it's hard to get good players in the free agency market. Pretty much most of the good players are locked up for years, unless you go out and trade. It's hard to get a 30-home run hitter," he said. "I'm not really worried about [how the injury will impact free agency] because it's not something that I need to go and get surgery. You know what I'm saying? Surgery means it's different from what it is. My tendon is not the baddest it can be to need surgery or anything like that. But I've got to be careful."
