The Red Sox will look to even up their series against the Yankees at 1-1 Saturday afternoon as they send Jon Lester to the mound against CC Sabathia. First pitch is at 4:05 p.m. EST with broadcasts on FOX and WEEI.
The big news is that, after being demoted to seventh against previous left-handed starters, Carl Crawford finds himself completely out against CC Sabathia. While it's possible this was a scheduled day off for the left fielder, still recently back from injury, it's hard to imagine it wasn't set with Sabathia in mind. Daniel Nava, equally helpless against southpaws, will take his place in left field, batting ninth.
Otherwise, it's the typical Red Sox lineup vs. a left-handed pitcher. Unfortunately, that lineup has seen precious little success in recent days.
