Boston Red Sox Daisuke Matsuzaka's rehab start on Tuesday will be canceled according to manager Bobby Valentine (via WEEI). Matsuzaka received an injection to relieve pain in his right trapezius muscle.
The Red Sox will have to wait seven days to reset the clock on their pitcher's rehab, which was originally supposed to end on Wednesday.
Valentine said about Matsuzaka
"He got another injection today in the right trap that's been bothering him for quite a while," Valentine told reporters, "and we got to make sure that's 100 percent before he's going out there again."
Matsuzaka is 0-2 in five minor league starts in 2012 with a 4.62 ERA with 22 strikeouts and six walks. Matsuzaka made eight appearances (seven starts) in 2011 and was 3-3 with a 5.30 ERA, 26 strikeouts and 23 walks.
