Mark Prior has made his return to baseball, signing with the Boston Red Sox, according to a report from Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Prior, who has not pitched in MLB since 2006, worked out with the Sox this spring and will stay in Fort Myers to "build up strength."
Prior was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2001 amateur draft, but only played five seasons with the Chicago Cubs due to constant injuries. Prior had a variety of injuries in his career, suffering from hamstring injuries, Achillies tendon injuries, elbow injuries and most notably shoulder injuries. Prior had a career 42-29 record in 106 games with a 3.51 ERA and 757 strikeouts.
