Jacoby Ellsbury Injury Update: Red Sox Manager Bobby Valentine Ready To Call Someone Up

Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury, who was injured in the fourth inning of Friday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park, is in a lot of pain. Valentine is prepared to call up a player for Saturday's game against the Rays. Valentine also said that his liked how Cody Ross played in center field after Ellsbury left the game. However, he did not rule out Darnell McDonald or Ryan Sweeney in center (via Providence Journal).

Ellsbury was injured sliding into second base while trying to break up a double play. Rays' second baseman Reid Brignac fell on Ellsbury's right shoulder during a collision. Ellsbury is having further evaluation done on the shoulder and no other information is available at this time. He was hitting .192 with three RBI and four walks this season.
