With Red Sox Spring Training 2012 underway in Ft. Myers, it looks like many fans are starting to get a little bit excited about the team's new manager, Bobby Valentine. Among those are the Red Sox' single-A affiliate, the Lowell Spinners.
According to a team press release, the team will hold a "Bobby Valentine's Day" on July 14 at LeLacheur Park , their own variation of the recently celebrated holiday of Valentine's Day. For Spinners vice president Jon Goode, this sort of promotion was inevitable after Valentine's hire.
"When the Red Sox introduced Bobby Valentine as their new manager, this promotion was a no-brainer," Spinners vice president Jon Goode said in a release. "When we broached the idea with Bobby at the winter meetings, he threw his support behind it and we started the planning process." (via ESPN)
On the promotion in honor of the Red Sox' skipper, the first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a pink "Bobby Valentine's Day" Spinners ball. Those who do not get baseballs will instead get candy and trading cards.
In addition to this, the Spinners will feature the wrap sandwich in their concession stand, in honor of it's self-proclaimed inventor. Bobby V's ballroom dancing skills with a between innings dancing competition. Yes, life is good when Bobby Valentine is your team's manager.
