VIDEO: New 17-Year Old Australia-Born Red Sox Pitcher

Earlier this week, the Boston Red Sox came to agreement with 17-year old Australia born left-handed pitcher Daniel McGrath. McGrath, a long time Red Sox fan reportedly drew interest from 15 major league clubs and turned down richer offers from other teams to sign with Boston.

When baseball players are signed at this early of an age, you know they have special talent. Daniel McGrath has that special talent. The 6-3 southpaw is expected to pitch in the 18 and under Nationals tournament for a third time in his young career. McGrath tops out with a 91 mph fastball, which is faster than any other Australian pitcher in the tournament. Yep, this kid's the real deal.

Since McGrath isn't slated to graduate from High School until next December, he'll have to stay in Australia to finish school before he can begin his Red Sox career. For your viewing pleasure, here's an Australian news report about McGrath and his signing with the Red Sox, courtesy of NewsonABC.
