Bobby Jenks Likely To Miss Rest Of Season For Boston Red Sox

The Bobby Jenks experiment in Boston may have come to an end, as reports surfaced that Jenks is unlikely to pitch for the Boston Red Sox for the remainder of the 2011 season. Jenks has not appeared in a game since July 7.

Jenks, who was scheduled to make a rehab appearance on August 27, was ill and continued to feel back pain, which forced him to sit out. Jenks apparently hasn't made enough progress to be on track for a return for the Red Sox in September or October.

"I would say the chance of Bobby pitching, we're probably past that point now," Francona said. "He just couldn't get it going this weekend and now is probably the cut-off point. We're going to get him looked at one more time and see what they decide to do. (via WEEI)

Jenks is 2-2 with a 6.32 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 19 appearances this year with Boston.
