Theo Epstein and the Boston Red Sox have already announced the call-ups of pitcher Junichi Tazawa and outfielder Joey Gathright, but according to WEEI.com, the team plans to call up first baseman Lars Anderson, shortstop Jose Iglesias and pitcher Trever Miller.
According to WEEI, the Red Sox will have to make space on the 40-man roster for both Gathright and Miller. Anderson hit .265 with 14 home runs and 78 RBI. Iglesias, who played his first season in Triple-A, struggled offensively, batting .235 in 101 games.
Gathright last played in the majors in 2009 with the Red Sox, playing in 17 games and batting .313 with a steal. Miller has appeared in 45 games in 2011 and has a 4.19 ERA with 11 strikeouts. Tazawa appeared in six games with Boston in 2009, posting a 2-3 record with a 7.46 ERA and 13 strikeouts.
Boston is in the midst of its second 2-10 slump of the season, and to top it off, has lost six games in a row.
