The Red Sox are enjoying rare back to back days off thanks to Hurricane Irene, which gives them a chance to rest and prepare for a critical series with the rivals down I-95, the New York Yankees.
The Yanks are 2.5 back of the Sox in the race for the AL East (New York still has to play the second half of their doubleheader tonight), so the upcoming three game set represents an opportunity for Boston to get some real separation for the first time this season.
