The Red Sox have fired the opening salvo in the first inning of Friday night's game against the Oakland Athletics.
While both teams picked up leadoff doubles, with Oakland's Jemile Weeks just barely missing a homer, the Sox were the ones to capitalize on it. Batting second, Marco Scutaro could not put the ball in play, but Ellsbury took matters into his own hands by stealing third, and then scored with ease as Adrian Gonzalez singled past a diving Weeks for the RBI.
