Adrian Gonzalez Named American League Player Of The Month For June

Adrian Gonzalez has been named the American League Player of the Month for June.

The honor should come as no surprise for Red Sox fans who watched Gonzalez hit a torrid .404/.478/.707 over the course of 25 games. Gonzalez went hitless only four times in that period, slugged six homers, and brought 25 runs in while scoring 22 times himself.

Interestingly, Gonzalez didn't win the player of the week for any period in June (though teammates David Ortiz and Jacoby Ellsbury did take home the first two awards of the month), but his consistent production won out over the long run, pushing him past other contenders like Detroit's Miguel Cabera and Chicago's Paul Konerko.
