The Boston Red Sox lead the AL East - and the American League in general - with the New York Yankees a close second. At 65-40, the Red Sox have a two-game lead on New York, but an 11-game lead on the AL Central leading Detroit Tigers and a seven-game lead on the Texas Rangers, who lead the AL West.
