David Ortiz has been on a tare in the last two games, hitting a grand slam - his ninth as a member of the Red Sox - and driving in nine runs to collect his 1,000th RBI with Boston. Without surprise, Ortiz is happy to be a part of Boston's high-octane lineup.
"I'm about to say, yes, man," Ortiz said when asked point-blank about the historic numbers the Red Sox are posting. "I don't want to say it too early. We still have two months left. But man, I'm telling you, what I'm seeing from head to toe, it's what you really want to be part of." (via WEEI)
Ortiz is now batting .305 with 20 home runs and 68 RBI while scoring 56 runs this season (Ortiz has even stolen a base this season!). In addition, Big Papi has a .960 OPS and a .569 slugging percentage through 96 games this season.
