The Red Sox have added a run and kept the Orioles scoreless over the middle three innings, taking a 2-0 lead into the seventh.
The Sox’ second run came in the fourth inning courtesy of Josh Reddick and Carl Crawford. Reddick continued his torrid hitting, lining a single into center field, and then moved to third when Carl Crawford picked up his first really well-hit ball since his return: a double that landed deep in right field. The Sox only managed to push across one run on Jason Varitek’s ground out, however, with Marco Scutaro and Yamaico Navarro striking out around him.
Andrew Miller settled down some in the last three innings of his outing, giving up just a walk and two hits. He had his best frame in the fourth, when he struck out two batters in a 1-2-3 inning. A good outing results-wise, but not what the Sox were looking for when it comes to making future plans.
