David Ortiz had his four-game suspension reduced to three after his altercation with Baltimore Orioles pitcher Kevin Gregg prior to the All-Star break. Ortiz will sit out the entire three game series with the Orioles beginning Monday.

Ortiz will be replaced by Jacoby Ellsbury at DH while Josh Reddick will play in center field. Ortiz was handed a four-game suspension by MLB after he charged the mound following multiple inside pitchers from Gregg, prompting both benches to clear.

Ortiz was originally suspended four games for his actions in a brawl with the Orioles at Fenway Park on July 8. Baltimore reliever Kevin Gregg, who also was suspended four games, threw inside three times on Ortiz and then barked at him after the Red Sox designated hitter slowly jogged to first upon lifting a fly to center. Ortiz charged Gregg and chaos ensued. (via NESN)
