The money just keeps coming in for Manny Ramirez. The former Red Sox slugger will receive payments of around $2 million per year from the Sox until 2026, and on top of that, he is still owed $21 million by the Los Angeles Dodgers, who filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday.
Ramirez signed a contract worth $45 million with the Dodgers after being traded to L.A. from Boston. Following a relatively brief stint in Hollywood, Ramirez was traded to the Chicago White Sox. This season, Ramirez inked a one-year deal worth $2 million to play for the Tampa Bay Rays, but walked away from the game of baseball after learning that he had tested positive for a banned substance for the second time.
In 19 seasons, Ramirez earned over $200,000,000, according to Baseball Reference. Ramirez played eight seasons with the Red Sox, batting .312 with 274 home runs and 868 RBI.
