Adrian Gonzalez Won't Play In Outfield For Red Sox In Series Finale Against Pirates

After all the fuss, it looks like Adrian Gonzalez won't be playing in the outfield, at least for now. Terry Francona told reporters that he would not plug his prized first baseman in right field for Sunday's series final against the Pirates.

"I don't think I'm going to do it [Sunday]," Francona said. "I'm kind of on the fence, and since I am, I'm not sure I know what's right. But I think maybe I know what's not right. Until I'm positive that this is something to do, I better stay way. That's kind of how I feel. I'll probably stay away [Sunday], reevaluate it on the way to Philly. I'm just hung up. I'm struggling with it, and I don't want to do something I'm struggling with. If we put Gonzie out there and he got hurt, I'm just not ready to do it. Maybe three, four games into this road trip, maybe I will. We'll see." (via WEEI)

Gonzalez is batting .360 with 15 home runs and 69 RBI in 75 games with Boston
