Jacoby Ellsbury has been named the American League Player of the Week after batting .467 with one home run and four RBI last week for the Boston Red Sox.
Ellsbury had three doubles during the week and scored 10 runs. In 65 games this season, Ellsbury is batting .318, seven home runs, 33 RBI, 49 runs and a league-leading 24 stolen bases.
This marks the third straight week that a member of the Red Sox has won the award, as Carl Crawford and David Ortiz also received Player of the Week honors for the week ending in May 30th and June 6th, respectively.
Ellsbury currently has a 10-game hitting streak, during which he is batting .429 (21-for-49) with one home run, six RBI, four doubles and five steals. In addition, Ellsbury has a hit in 16 of his last 17 games.
