Jonathan Papelbon Voted MLB's Fourth Most Overrated Player In SI Player Poll

Boston Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon was listed as one of the most overrated MLB players in the latest players poll in this week's Sports Illustrated, which hits newsstands on Wednesday. Papelbon was tied for fourth in the vote, receiving four percent of the vote.

Without surprise, New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was voted baseball's most overrated player, receiving 18 percent of the vote. A-Rod was followed by two teammates, Joba Chamberlain and Derek Jeter, who received 12 percent and seven percent of the vote, respectively.

Jayson Werth of the Washington Nationals also received four percent of the vote, tied with Papelbon.

In addition to the player poll. Sports Illustrated posed the question on its Facebook page. An astonishing 45 percent of fans voted Jeter as the most overrated player in baseball.

Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz was second in the fan voting, receiving 17 percent of the vote. Rodriguez was voted the third most overrated player, taking home 15 percent of the vote.
