Bobby Valentine Officially Introduced As Boston Red Sox Manager

Bobby Valentine was officially introduced as the 45th manager of the Boston Red Sox at an introductory press conference on Thursday night at Fenway Park. Valentine was introduced by new general manager Ben Cherington before making his opening statement and answering questions for the media.

"In the end, I'm very confident that we found the right person in Bobby Valentine," said Cherington. In his opening statement to the media, Valentine said, "Well I am honored. I'm humbled and I'm pretty damn excited."

Valentine has been serving as an ESPN baseball analyst and has 15 years of major league managerial experience, spending time at the helm of the Texas Rangers and the New York Mets. Valentine has a 1,117-1,072 career record. In addition, Valentine managed the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan in 1995 and again from 2004 through 2009, winning a title in 2005.
