Red Sox Allard Baird Declines Interview for Orioles GM Job

According to a report by WEEI the vice president of player personnel and professional scouting, Allard Baird, has declined an offer to interview for the Baltimore Orioles vacant General Manager position.

Baird's explains the thought process behind his decision below:

"I was honored that the Baltimore Orioles expressed interest in me as a candidate for the GM position," Baird wrote in a text message. "The opportunity to possibly work side by side with [Orioles manager] Buck Showalter made this so attractive. At the end of the day, it came down to my loyalty to the Red Sox [and] Ben Cherington."

Baird joined the Red Sox organization in 2006 as a consultant and become a full time employee in 2007. Prior to joining the Red Sox Baird was the General Manager of the Kansas City Royals.
