Ben Cherington is already the best general manager that the Boston Red Sox has ever seen, and he's only been on the job for a little over three hours. The reason? Well, about 45 minutes into his press conference, he did this.
Cherington basically told Red Sox fans that they won't have to watch John Lackey miss the strike zone for three hours every fifth night in the summer, and honestly, that's the greatest thing you can tell anyone. Ever. So, with that being the case, it's pretty clear that Ben Cherington has ascended to the top of the Red Sox' legends past that Theo guy to become the greatest front office member the franchise has ever seen. And it's only day one. In Ben we trust.
