Hopes Sunk: Okajima Walks In Winning Run, Red Sox Lose To Yankees, 4-3

The Red Sox battled back in the ninth inning to force extras only to lose in the bottom of the 10th when Hideki Okajima walked in the winning run. The 4-3 loss extinguished Boston's slim playoff chances -- the Sox are now 6.5 games out if the Wild Card, with just seven game remaining.

Hideki Okajima walked Juan Miranda with the bases loaded in the 10th inning as the New York Yankees edged the Red Sox, 4-3, to secure at least a tie for the wild card spot and essentially squashing Boston's faint playoff hopes.
