Gabe Moton has reportedly been granted his release from the Boston College Eagles men's basketball team, according to a report from Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports. Moton, a Florida native, recently finished his second season with the Eagles.

Moton, a 6-foot-1 sophomore point guard, averaged 2.9 points and 1.1 assists last season in 459 total minutes. Moton only scored 83 points on the season and shot 40.8 percent from the floor (31-for-76) while totaling 31 assists, 47 rebounds and 12 steals. His numbers in his freshman season weren't any better, as he averaged 2.5 points and 1.1 assists in 504 minutes.

The departure of Moton marks the second such occurrence for the Boston College basketball program this offseason, as junior Matt Humphrey announced that he would not be returning to the program next season either. Humphrey, who has one more year of eligibility left, will graduate from BC and will enroll elsewhere, meaning he doesn't have to wait to play.
