Boston College Vs. Miami Final Score: Hurricanes Knockout Eagles, 77-56

The Boston College Eagles ended the 2011-2012 regular season on a low note, as they were defeated by the Miami Hurricanes by a score of 77-56 on Saturday at BankUnited Center.

The loss for the Eagles (9-21, 4-12 ACC) pushed them from a tie for ninth place all the down to a tie for last with Georgia Tech. Because they split the season series with the Yellow Jackets, BC will either be the No. 11 or No. 12 overall seed in next week's ACC Tournament.

Boston College was led by by junior guard Matt Humphrey, who scored 16 points. Dennis Clifford and Jordan Daniels added 11 points each for a young Eagles team. After BC trailed by 21 at haltime, the trio lead the Eagles impressive second half effort, but in the end, the Miami lead was to big to overcome.

The Hurricanes (18-11, 9-7 ACC) were led by Durand Scott and Kenny Kadji, who scored 14 points each in their final home game of the season. Guard Malcolm Grant added 12 points to the effort while Reggie Johnson added 10 points, fresh off a reinstatement by the NCAA.

The ACC tournament fates for the Hurricanes will become a little more clear after Sunday's ACC games.

Miami currently sits tied for fourth in the ACC with a 9-7 conference record with Virginia, N.C. State and Clemson. The Cavaliers close out their regular season tomorrow at Maryland while the Wolfpack visit Virginia Tech and the Tigers finish out at Florida State.

As for the Eagles, it appears that their fate has already been sealed. Even though they split their regular season series with the Yellow Jackets, their overall record of 9-21 is worse than Tech's 11-19. Which means, your Boston College Eagles will be facing an uphill battle as the No. 12 and last seed in the ACC Tournament.
