Patrick Heckmann dressed for warmups prior to the Boston College Eagles' game against the No. 5/4 ranked Duke Blue Devils on Sunday night at Conte Forum, but the freshman guard remained sidelined for the seventh straight game.
Heckmann was diagnosed with mono in late January, and he was expected to miss nearly a month recovering. Heckmann is feeling much better, however, and he said that he was seeing a doctor on Sunday and would likely resume practice next week. Boston College lost to Duke, 75-50, and has three games left in the regular season, yet Heckmann believes he will be able to return to action before the end of the season.
His first season at Boston College has been an up-and-down ride. Heckmann is averaging 9.1 points and 2.9 rebounds this season, but the German native had a very strong start to his college career, scoring 19 points in his debut at BC and then scoring an Eagles season high 32 points in a 76 Classic game against UC Riverside in November.
