CHESTNUT HILL - Northwestern Wildcats senior quarterback and Heisman hopeful Dan Persa will not play in the season opener against the Boston College Eagles at noon on Saturday at Alumni Stadium, as reported by ESPN College GameDay.
GameDay reports Dan Persa out vs. BC today. .... That was a very expensive Heisman campaign for naught.
Persa is coming off of a magnificent 2010 campaign in which he threw for 2,581 yards and 15 touchdowns on 222-of-302 passing (73.5 completion percentage). Persa suffered an Achilles injury late last season that knocked him out for the Wildcats final few games, and is still working his way back. Sophomore backup QB Kain Colter will likely start in Persa's place for Northwestern.
