Boston College Vs. Duke: Eagles Lead Blue Devils 19-14 At Halftime

CHESTNUT HILL - Sean Renfree completed a 53-yard pass to wideout Conner Vernon to give the Duke Blue Devils their first points at the 8:31 mark of the second quarter, but the Boston College Eagles took a 19-14 lead into the half.

The quarter's first points were scored by the Eagles on a Nate Freese 43-yard field goal with 10:44 to go in the half. Freese's field goal capped off an 11-play, 61-yard drive that lasted 5:44.

Freese tacked on his second field goal of the game later in the quarter, splitting the upright from 47 yards out to give Boston College a 13-7 lead. The field goal capped off a 10-play, 33-yard drive that lasted 4:28.

Chase Rettig then set the table with a 57-yard pass to Colin Larmond Jr., which set up a 7-yard touchdown run from Andre Williams with 1:21 to go in the first half. Nate Freese missed the extra point, but BC still took a 19-7 lead.

Renfree threw his second touchdown of the game - a 21-yard pass to Vernon, to bring Duke within five, 19-14, with 30 seconds left in the half. Rettig and BC took a knee on the ensuing Eagles possession to close out the half.

Rettig, who threw his first touchdown pass of the game in the first quarter - a 31-yard screen pass to Tahj Kimble - has thrown for 182 yards and one score on 11-of-16 passing. Williams has rushed for 18 yards while Kimble has rushed for three yards. Kimble is also has 53 yards on three catches.

Renfree has thrown for 208 yards and two touchdowns on 20-of-26 passing and has also rushed for 13 yards on three carries for Duke. Conner Vernon has four catches for 87 yards and a touchdown.
