Pre-season ACC Player of the Year Montel Harris had arthroscopic surgery today on his injured right knee and will miss at least the next 3-4 weeks according to the Boston Herald.
Montel suffered the injury during BC's win over Virginia at Alumni Stadium last season and missed the final 2 games of the season including the teams bowl game loss to Nevada in San Francisco. After not taking part in most of spring practices, head coach Frank Spaziani pronounced Montel healthy and "back to his old self" this past weekend.
Redshirt sophomore Andre Williams is expected to get the bulk of the carries in Harris' absence just as he did last year. In the regular season finale, Williams carried the ball a school record 42 times for 175 yards in a win over Syracuse. Fellow sophomore Rolandan "Deuce" Finch could also see some snaps behind Williams.
Harris is just 1,003 yards away from breaking the ACC record for career rushing yards, a record that has stood for 35 years.
BC opens their season September 3rd at home against the Northwestern Wildcats.
