CHESTNUT HILL – For one final time this season, the Boston College men’s basketball team will play in front of its home fans here at Conte Forum.
Things haven’t always gone BC’s way at home this season, but the Eagles do possess a winning record at home this year, going 10-4 in the Heights.
Fortunately, the Eagles’ opponent on Sunday afternoon is lowly Wake Forest, which enters the game with an 8-22 record and is an abysmal 1-14 in the ACC.
If all things go as planned, BC should be able to close out the regular season with a win on Senior Day. Oh, did I mention that part? Seniors Joe Trapani, Corey Raji, Biko Paris, Josh Southern, Cortney Dunn, John Cahill, Chris Kowalski and Nick Mosakowski will all be honored before the game in traditional fashion for the last home game of the season.
But back to the game, an Eagles win on Sunday wouldn’t help push them off the bubble, yet a loss would all but destroy their chances of making the NCAA tournament (unless, of course, they win the ACC Tournament).
The Demon Deacons have only defeated one ACC team, the Virginia Cavaliers, a team that Boston College has defeated twice this season. Again, the consensus pick is Boston College, but after all, this is the ACC, where anything can happen on any given night.
PREDICTION: Boston College has a strong record on its home court, and seems to play well in front of its home fans (for the most part). The fact that it is Senior Day only helps the cause, giving the Eagles a little extra motivation. Throw in the fact that they are playing the worst team in the conference, Wake Forest, and you have the recipe for an easy win for BC. Final Score: Boston College 79, Wake Forest 64.
